The project team is composed of four partners: The Space Research Centre of Polish Academy of Sciences (CBK PAN, R&D institution Poland) as prime contractor and Industrieanlagen-Betriebsgesellschaft mbH (IABG mbH, R&D institution Germany), EOXPLORE UG (haftungsbeschränkt, SME Germany), and the Friedrich-Schiller-Universität (Germany) as sub-contractors. This consortium was built based on the experience and expertise of the partners in order to deliver high quality results in all aspects of the study. The main contractor - CBK PAN – is an experienced project leader that heads the consortium. CBK PAN also provides their expertise in both the application and development of new land cover classification methods as well as software development. CBK PAN is responsible for selecting the core classification methods and their implementation. In order to guarantee an independent validation process, validation of the results is executed by IABG mbH. IABG mbH has significant experience in the validation of imagery across the globe and has provided their validation services to the US Army, Airbus Defence and Space, Vodafone and others. Through their experience and significant contacts, IABG provides the training and validation data for four of the test sites: Colombia, Namibia, Germany, and Italy. The consortium includes FSU Jena because of their extensive experience and expertise in radar imagery classification, including Sentinel-1, and improving the Global Land Cover classification (CCI-LC) using SAR data. For this reason, FSU Jena contributes to the data fusion task. Furthermore, the university laboratory provides support for the Chinese test site analysis because of their working contacts through the DRAGON programs. EOXPLORE UG contributes with its expert knowledge in the domain of classification issues especially those concerned with databases and legends (e.g. in Copernicus High Resolution Layers). As an SME, it provides it’s experience in user-oriented products for the small business sector. (The consortium partnership is illustrated at figure below.)
